Phosphogypsum as additive for foamed bitumen manufacturing used in asphalt paving
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this work was to use phosphogypsum (FY) waste in a sustainable paving practice involving the production FY-foamed bitumen for road applications. For proposal, three FY types coming from different fertilizer industries and reference natural gypsum were used as foaming agents (10 wt%), including small quantity sulfuric acid (0.5 wt%) foamed formulation. properties rheological characterization their corresponding binder residues conducted by distance laser sensor dynamic shear rheology, respectively. In addition, physicochemical materials carried out order evaluate role final product. Knowing that is Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) waste, comprehensive radioactive characterization, both alpha gamma spectrometry, an environmental evaluation, Dynamic Surface Leaching Test (DSLT), performed comply with EU radiological regulation NORM building materials. conclusion, displayed enhanced engineering compared prepared gypsum, satisfying specifications established according regulations.

Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists A Study of Cement Modified Bitumen Emulsion Mixtures
Earlier studies have demonstrated the beneficial effects of adding Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) to bitumen emulsion mixtures. These effects were confirmed for some dense graded mixtures based on recipes currently used for hot mix in the UK and being considered for use in cold mix. Laboratory tests included stiffness modulus, resistance to permanent deformation and resistance to fatigue cracki...
متن کاملThe asphalt paving process
Language: English The Challenge At the outset the asphalt paving process seems to be simple. Trucks deliver hot mix asphalt from plants to the construction site. There the asphalt is loaded on asphalt pavers that evenly spread the asphalt. Finally, compactors compact the asphalt to its required density. Despite this relatively structured process our research shows that there are significant dis...
متن کاملInfrared Thermography Revolutionizes Hot-Mix Asphalt Paving
Hot-mix asphalt (HMA) surfaces comprise about 90% of the highways and roads in the U.S. Highways and are typically engineered to last 15 years or more, but many have been failing early due to potholes, cracks, raveling, and other problems. This premature road failure unnecessarily wastes millions of taxpayer dollars every year. This paper describes a series of research studies that were conduct...
متن کاملCharacterization of Metal Powders Used for Additive Manufacturing
Additive manufacturing (AM) techniques can produce complex, high-value metal parts, with potential applications as critical parts, such as those found in aerospace components. The production of AM parts with consistent and predictable properties requires input materials (e.g., metal powders) with known and repeatable characteristics, which in turn requires standardized measurement methods for p...
